The Trump administration has dismissed several National Science Foundation employees who were handicapped for their skills in AI, which threatened the agency’s ability to maintain AI research, Bloomberg Notified.
One of the affected departments within the NSF, called the Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnership, played an important role in giving birth to a government grant focused on AI. According to Bloomberg, many review panels have been postponed or canceled as a result of funding stalling for some AI projects.
AI experts have criticized the Trump administration’s recent shortcomings in creating a scientific grant, and in particular, the lack of a decline in the performance of the billionaire Elon Musk’s department.
