Heybike’s Alpha step-through e-bike is an affordable, all-terrain dreamboat

Posted on May 18, 2025

In my time I have experienced several e -bikes here in the Tech Crunch. And I never got solemnly as I have with the new bike’s new Alpha.

It is strong, fat tire, all -terrain e -bikes worth $ 1,699 price tags. Alpha marked many of my boxes, which I didn’t even know that I didn’t have. For example, I knew I wanted an e -bike with Paddle Assist and Throtal, but I didn’t know that I would love Paddle Assist, with a throttle e -bike. And A manual shifter. Perhaps the most dreamy part of riding Alpha was a mid -drive motor with a torque sensor, which made a more natural ride. That, and battery life that seems to last forever.

They were not all roses and reins. I have some complaints about the app, set up a motorcycle, and outsed horns. But in general, this is an excellent e -bike around, whether you want to take it on an off -road adventures or use it to buy your weekly businessman in the city.

And then the question is how long will this motorcycle be cheaper? Hi -bikes are Chinese manufacturer and its bikes are made in China. With prices, even recently, at a low rate, these bikes are likely to be more expensive for US consumers.

An affordable mid -drive e -bike

Alpha is the first bike that has a home -made Galaxy Adio system, which uses a 680Wh battery as well as a 500W mid -drive motor, which provides smooth ride.

Most of the other e -bikes I have tested are made with motors riding in the center of the wheel, making a simple, more affordable design. Mid drive is located near the motor pedal, and if you can find such a motorcycle at a decent price? Take it Because not everyone wants to buy a buffing conversion kit and do not want to make their own cheap mid -drive.

Even at the fifth and highest level of pedal assist, alpha is smooth and easy to control, which makes you feel that you are pedaling the traditional push motorcycle. There is nothing shocking about acceleration.

However, the middle drive is downward. If you are the type of rider who likes to bow heavy on the throttle, then the alpha of the high bike is probably not for you. A company spokesperson told me that high bikes not only encourage the use of throttle, especially at the beginning of the ride, as it could cause damage to a motor and drive train.

And with Alpha, you can’t really start a ride with throttle. Before the throttle engage, you have to pedal first and build at least 5 miles per hour. When you use throttle, the speed is adjusted on the basis of which the pedal is at the level. Even at the highest level, the high speed using the throttle reaches only 20 miles per hour. He said, you can push it up to 28 miles per hour while pedaling.

I did not have a lot of trouble with throttle obstacles. Of course, riding in the streets of New York City, they were occasionally moments when I wanted the immediate transit that would provide sensitive throttle. Nevertheless, I found that the help of the pedal was quite responsible.

And with 105 nm of the torque, it was also powerful. I rarely felt the need to remove myself from the first level. The increase of Schmano Ults 8 gear shifters helped increase this power. The shifter allows me to kick a high gear on the flat region and bring it down to a lower gear while climbing the hills. This meant that I could keep the pedal at 1 to save battery power.

And when I am on the topic of the hills, it is worth noting that Alpha once again inclined like an absolute winner because of the mid -drive motor.

Keep alpha battery alive for a long time

Alpha’s UL certified batteries allow up to 60 miles on the same charge, though I would not be surprised if they go beyond it. After removing the battery once to charge (the end of which is a test I will describe below), I picked up a motorcycle around the neighborhood and several trips to different hills, probably riding a 22 -mile distance. The battery life on the LCD mid -mounted screen does not in some way fall below 100 %.

It may have to do something with the Galaxy Adio, which looked like there was a newly created brake system that would provide power back to the battery whenever I had a brake. Hi -bike says its galaxy system provides more than 8 % additional range of batteries of the same capacity.

More notes on hard

Alpha may be doubled as a cargo motorcycle for delivery riders. It comes with a backbone rack that was more than enough to strand three loaded bags of grocery, though one of them could be easily attached to the large food delivery box.

It also contains a total of 400 pounds. So much money is Pedgo cargo bike I tested last year, which is double the price and is twice heavy. The alpha of the high bike is not exactly a small motorcycle that can be easily removed in the NYC apartment, but with its aluminum alloy frame, it wasn’t so Lot Heavy or low in 71 pounds.

And while 26 x 4 -inch fat tires are excellent to trap the gravel and trees roots, they are so good in handling NYC’s pit and uneven road surfaces. Not only the tire, but also the Bunsi Hydraulic Front fork suspension, most of them hit the roads and made it easier for me to move on the sidewalks.

Cons: Setup, quality concerns, and wow, what’s horn

Alpha was not without his challenges. For one, a proper amount of setup was included at the time of the motorcycle supply, which required cautious squatting on the QR-code instruction manual.

If you are not in the habit of keeping the motorcycle parts together (which I am not), you are responsible for making some things wrong. I had the help of two beautiful colleagues in my office, but when I hit the road, I still felt something. I took him to the motorcycle store where the mechanic shook his head with sympathy and made some adaptations, including the handle bars that I did not install in the right position.

I also struggled with the battery cover from the tube below. It won’t come now! I tried to watch an instructional video on YouTube, but what I could find was annoying Remove and install the battery ASMR video to 16 seconds Finally from the hi -bike, I had to stand the cover, and I found out that someone had wrongly damaged the shock, which hindered the release of the metal cover. I sent it back correctly so that it could be clicked properly.

But then, the battery is more core drama. After some rides, the cover began to pop the mid -riding half -way. I’ll clip it back, hit a collision, and go there again. Realizing that I had something wrong during the stir with the battery cover, I tapped it in the place and called it one day.

There was another downright horn for Alpha. My God, it was loud. Imagine someone trying to offend someone by screaming at them loudly. Looks like a horn. It was so aggressive that when I was passing, I was ashamed of using it to inform pedestrians or other riders, lest I fear the nasty one of them. When I wanted to turn the cars entering the motorcycle lane, it worked.

The app was also unprofitable. This may close the motorcycle, but it cannot turn it on, as the motorcycle needs to be already available to connect the app through Bluetooth. The app can turn and turn off the headlight (which was very bright anyway), as well as record and share any trip data. Personally, I think e -bike apps are only able to use if they give you direct tracking, anti -theft and alarm.

There are not many colors to choose. In fact, if you want by one step, you are turning it white. And if you want a step over frame, you will be happy with black.

A final note about the addition of turn signals: He did the right thing, but I never remembered to use them.

High Bike Alpha: If you are easy, still good if not good if not

All of them, I thought Habic Alpha is a solid ride, especially for the price point. Usually a motorcycle with Alpha’s sunset will run from $ 2,000 to 4,500, so this is a good thing. Although this problem with the battery cover had raised some red flags about quality problems, and if I was riding on it for a long time, I wonder what other matters could arise.

The cheap price tag may be based on poor customer service, based on Online reviewsEven though I personally couldn’t talk to him. All I know is that it’s one of the easiest, easiest fat tire e -bikes I’m happy to ride.
