Are Meal Kits Cheaper than Groceries in 2025? We Break It Down

Posted on May 19, 2025

Standard knocking, of course. That is, food kits are expensive: anywhere $ 7 to $ 14, less than a restaurant meal, but more than most food budgets. So I have set an experience for myself. Equipped with mere food cut guidelines, I went to my local grocery store to see if I could make the least meal. Readers, it was not easy.

In fact, I most failed. For the sake of science, I bought everything at the store that the food cut provided in the box, including rice or “Italian herbs cooking”, even if I had already at home. Where the quality was reliable, I bought the lowest cost option. Parts were for two, not for a family.

And I just went to a store for every meal, meaning that if I had to improve the alternative to perform the food, I did this. No one is going to three stores for Tuesday, and so what do I do when I shopping for myself on a Saturday night: I bought what I bought there.

My result is not to spoil the end, that is the original bonus sauce, spices and flavors offered by the food kit, which are dolls in smaller parts instead of big jars. You may buy a stack on the least, even an organic butcher, but you will not find your cream cheese sauce roasted red peppers, parasitic cheese for your rice, and herbs.

In addition to the time savings, it turns out that the food kit that works best offers a single or double service taste at a relatively low price than to get itself. When trying to copy food cut sauces and spices on a grocery store, I spent a lot of money – though, of course, I had a multi -faceted spice for future food.

Which means: You, of course, can eat more cheap than a cut. But you can’t eat easily These precise things It is cheap, unless you already own the right spices and bulk ingredients. Here is my experience of experimenting.
