When you look at the brand level, things get a bit worse for the American automaker. Volkswagen sold more than someone else in Europe last month, which increased by 61 % to 23,514 units. Where for Tesla? It fell eleventh, with only 7,165 sales, which is 49 % a year.
Beating it at the tenth was China’s BYD. The US market has been banned from protection laws and now by heavy new taxes, BYD has focused on Europe instead. Its PHEV is being sold strictly, the BEVS has not been affected by prices, but even its BEV sales have now eclipsed Tesla, which has 7,231 registration last month.
“Although the overall sales of the two brands may be very low, the implications of the two brands,” said Felip Manoz, the global analyst at Jato Dynamics. “This is a water shedding moment for the European car market, especially when you consider that Tesla has led the European Beau Market for years, while BaiD has only officially launched ahead of Norway and the Netherlands at the end of 2022.”
