The FBI is offering $ 10 million for information about China State Hacking Group, which has been traced to sensitive networks belonging to Salt Typhone and several US telecommunications companies.
Salt Typhone is one of half a dozen or more hacking groups that operate by the People’s Republic of China. Intelligence agencies and private security companies have concluded that the group behind the group is a wire of spy attacks that have been designed to collect important information to use any future military disputes.
A wide and important cyber campaign
On Thursday the agency published a Description Million for information about salt typhoon up to 10 million, relocation assistance, and other compensation offers. The announcement sought information about the compromise of specific members of the Salt Tophone and several US telecommunications companies in the group.
FBI officials wrote, “The investigation of these actors and their activity revealed a broad and important cyber campaign to access these networks to target the victims globally.” “As a result of this activity, theft of call data logs, a limited number of private communication, including identified victims, and a court order copied selected information under US law enforcement requests.”
Salt Typhone is one of the numerous names that public and private researchers use to track the group, which they say has been active since at least 2019. Other tracking names include Redmike, Gust Emperor, Celebrity, Earth Easts, and UNC 2286. Over the years, Salt Typhone has been behind a number of telecommunications companies around the world, including many people in the United States. About a year ago, the group intensified these activities.
