Waymo and Uber are giving some riders early access to Atlanta robotaxi service

Posted on May 20, 2025

Robotics rides in Vimo and Uber Atlanta will begin to select users who signed the weightlisted earlier this year. The move comes before the companies’ public robotics launch this summer.

The selected users for initial access will be notified in the Ober app and by email. Those who choose robotics rides will be encouraged to provide feedback while riding. As an additional incentive, riders will get $ 10 worth of Uber after their first Vemo ride.

Atlanta is the second city that has obtained the “Ober on the Vemo” service. Companies started serving from Riders through the Uber app in Austin this spring.

Uber and Vimo Was announced last September The extended contribution is intended to offer robotics service in Austin and Atlanta in early 2025. Under the partnership, only Uber users can have the children of Vimo’s independent Jaguar I-Pace vehicles.

Like every other city in which Vemo has launched – a list that includes Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco – the service area in Atlanta will develop over time. Vemo and Uber initially agreed to offer robotics rides in a 65 square mile area in Atlanta, including Downtown, Book Head, and Capital View Palaces.

“Vemo on Uber” service drivers separates the responsibilities of owning and operating the fleet of vehicles: Uber manages access to robotics as well as charging, maintenance and cleaning of autonomous vehicles, while Vimo Rider oversees tech and autonomous operations, including help.
